jgroxbury:
bullet08: Happy New Year!!!
ChillyNPhilly: Tim I am going to drop by the pickles when I go to that pruning class at Bill's Figs on Saturday. What time is the class anyhow, does anybody know off hand?
ChillyNPhilly: I have pickles for you Tim.
ztfree1128: Is anyone else having trouble with the Yuku app and the new version of iOS on there iphone?
gorgi: @Harvey;
Now I see that this (misc) forum is more like the GardenWeb.
Plenty for me to read on other missed topics, thanks...
Slingha: If I splurge like that i've won the lottery and nobody will ever be hearing from me ever again...LOL
ChillyNPhilly: Harvey that fig film was the most amazing food porno I have ever seen:)))
harveyc: If Tim splurges like that, I'll pack clothing light and bring some caprified figs! :)
ChillyNPhilly: Tim maybe you should splurge and send your jet out to Harvey next year. I'm just saying.
harveyc: George, most forums have subforums such as this one. The advantage of that, is that people can chat about off topic things and other fruits and now bury the discussions about the main purpose of the forum. At F4F threads get moved one or two pages back pretty quickly because of some of the unrelated discussions. When you come to the main page you will see if there are new posts in a particular subforum since your last visit. Just click on those subforums to see what topics and posts are there. There's advantages and disadvantages to each method but generally the use of subforums is best. You can come back a year later to review what has been discussed and just go through the subforum category that interests you.
Slingha: George- If you need cuttings of anything you are welcome to come over anytime and clip off whatever you need.

Slingha: the creeper came from me. It looks like a Tissue culture of some sort of fig. As you can see it doesnt creep but some people cant let that go.
gorgi: As a matter of fact, now I see that I may have completely missed out on some thread that i never knew existed, e.g., the one about the Creeper fig. I got one from the fig meet, and had to ask what is so 'creepy' about this fig...
gorgi: Thanks Harvey for the explanation.

I do not like it - it means that some (recently touched) threads may be hidden from the home page...
harveyc: George, since that topic is in the subforum category labeled "General Fig Forum", it only shows on the main page of the forum if it is the top topic in that subforum. When you looked, it probably had been bumped below by Tim's post about the Luigi 2 and 4 figs being renamed. Most general things such as meetings will be posted in that subforum.
gorgi: OK, I found it (but why was it not so easy?).
gorgi: Where is the thread about the 9/22/13 fig meet?
harveyc: If someone wants to arrange to have a private jet come pick me up here in Calif next year I'd love to come to Tim's fig day and I'd even bring a bunch of ripe figs with me to share! :) LOL
harveyc: A lot of the Roundup hate stuff gets posted in blogs with little support or from nut cases, IMO. Here is an interesting story about some bad reporting about a GMO-related incident: http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_tense/2013/08/26/golden_rice_attack_in_philippines_anti_gmo_activists_lie_about_protest_and.html?fb_ref=sm_fb_share_chunky_bottom
BLB: Ok Thanks Harvey. Round up has gotten a lot of bad press lately. I've used it and know it is very effective
harveyc: Barry, Roundup is much less toxic than other alternatives, is very effective, doesn't have volatility issues (don't need to worry about damage from fumes as spray dries), and is economical. It only kills what it comes into contact with so avoid spraying when it's windy. Once the bark of a tree becomes old and thick, even the base of a tree can be sprayed without damage (assuming there are no suckers with green leaves). It is the spray of choice in millions of acres of various fruit and nut orchards. That said, I try not to over-use anything. If you can eliminate weeds with hoeing or cultivation, do that first.
BLB: roundup scares me a little it kills everything
